The number of new COVID-19 cases in Mumbai and neighboring Thane continues to increase daily. In fact, with more than 1,000 cases on Tuesday, the city saw an increase of 7,000 cases a week. As of Tuesday, 1,012 people tested positive while two people died and 1,051 recovered from the virus. The active cases are at 10,736. The doubling rate has also dropped to 219 days. In another development, the death of Mansukh Hiren sparked a riot in the State Assembly amid a war of words, with the MVA raising the issue of the suicide of BJP MP Mohan Delkar. While Devendra Fadnavis called for the arrest of police officer Sachin Vaze in the Hiren case, the MVA government ordered an investigation into the SIT in the Delkar case.
