The young striker Pranjal Bhumij has extended his contract with the reigning Indian Super League champions Mumbai City FC by three years, thereby securing his future with the team until May 2024.
Pranjal was selected by the Islanders in the 2017 ISL draft and joined the club as a development player who can play anywhere in attack.
The 22-year-old has continued his development with the Islanders over four years and has appeared for the club 25 times.
In the recently concluded 2020/21 season, he made four appearances and especially in the last game of the league phase against ATK Mohun Bagan, his first start of the season.
“For the past four years, Mumbai City has been an immense part of my life. I’ve had so much invaluable experience from the various coaches I’ve worked with over the years,” Pranjal was quoted as saying in a media release.
“I’m only 22 years old, I still have a lot to learn and achieve and I didn’t have to think twice before entrusting my future to this big club,” he added.
Head coach Sergio Lobera said he thinks Pranjal is one of India’s best young talents.
“We see him in training every day and the quality and potential that he shows really stimulates us for the future. He is an excellent professional who is willing to learn and, for a little boy, very mature and level-headed. ”Added.
